Kaelyn enjoying some beats during our school supplies shopping trip.
We had a fun swim party with a bunch of Grandma Ruth's great granddaughters. I could just picture her sitting by the side of the pool just tickled that they were all together. Her family was her greatest treasure and she instilled that in all of us. We were able to have Mckinley and Jackie stay with us for a week while Wendy was out here for surgery. The girls loved having them here and I was sure to use them for babysitters here and there.
More swimming with Jackie and Mckinley
We made our annual back to school trip happen with the Nelson's. Jamie and I vowed to take family trips together when we were in high school because we were both jealous of our friends that did that. This year we stayed at a night condo in Park City and even took a babysitter with us so we could get out one night for a double date and sushi.
Picnic at the Heber Park across from Grandma and Grandpa Hicken's house.
Twin hairstyles for the girls
Lucy was great to have come along. She is great with the girls and gave someone for Cohen to joke around with.
Of course we hit the outlets for some shopping. The kids didn't last long so Jamie and I sent the dads and kids to the pool and returned to get some great deals!
We enjoyed the Ariel Ski Show into the big pool at the Olympic Park.
One of our favorite parts was taking the kids to the crater at the Homestead in Midway to swim in the hot spring.
We took a little hike up to Cascade Springs. Bryn posing with the lizard she spotted.
Bryn running FHE while Kaelyn lays on top of the microphone.
Trying out a new park in Herriman
First day of school for these two! I can't tell you how happy it makes me that they get to go to the same school. I still remember the day I was working out at the community center when a bunch of elementary kids came into the gym for an assembly. At the time Jaymi was in a special needs classroom and Bryn was still in preschool. I just had this overwhelming ache in my heart that they wouldn't be in the same school together. That moment is what set us on the road to find Athlos and put Jaymi in a mainstream setting. It was been such a wonderful thing for her and her classmates. It definitely came with struggles and learning curves for us all, but days like today make it all worth it!
Taking advantage of the warm days with an after school trip to one of the neighborhood pools.
Little miss Kaelyn all dressed and ready for her first week of school. It took me a few days to get her to sit still long enough to get a picture.
I got to hangout with my buddy Hudson for a few days after his mom went back to school.
One of my adventures for this year is I'm running a little Play School for some of the little 2 year olds in the neighborhood. I figured I would need something to fill all my free time now that all three girls are in school all day. I have a fun little crew of kids. Five little boys and one little girl Gwen. We have a fun time and they are all loving it.
Kaelyn rocked it at her eye appointment. She knows the drill and gets right down to business.
A few of us got together to have dinner and visit with this sweet mom who unexpectedly lost her daughter with Down syndrome. It was a tender night as we tried to offer the love and support of the Ds community.
Kaelyn also had her yearly cardiology appointment. Everything still looks similar to last year so they are trying to decide if she can wait another year before making the repair to her pulmonary artery. I seriously am amazed every year at how still she holds for her echo. It takes like 30 minutes and she does so well just watching a show on my phone.
Kaelyn's life-sized portrait she brought home from school one day.
We had a BBQ at the Petes and Welles just hopped up on the table after his parent's cut him off from the meat and ate it off of Wayne's plate.
Wayne took the girls over to the health fair in the rain and Bryn was loving the football helmet umbrella.
